EMERGE Leadership training has helped sustainable building practitioners and activists from around the country lead collaborative design projects, launch policy initiatives and commercial enterprises, navigate professional career transitions, and initiate community efforts and more. Every project is an opportunity to transform our built environment and the communities that depend on it; this action-packed workshop presents a strategic model of leadership specifically designed for those hoping to achieve greater success moving our organizations and communities towards a truly sustainable future.

This workshop introduces the EMERGE Leadership model, showcases examples of the emergent leadership approach in action while providing ample opportunity to discuss what this means for workshop participants in their professional and personal lives. An in-depth scenario activity will prepare participants to apply emergent collaboration.

Additional details:
Teams of 3-5 from the same organization are especially encouraged to attend; specially-designed scenario and exercise options will be offered to apply to EMERGE principles and tools in project team situations. Participants who register by April 3, 2019, will receive a FREE copy of EMERGE: A Strategic Leadership Model for the Sustainable Building Community.

Learning objectives:
  1. Understand the three elements that comprise the system of Emergent Leadership
  2. For each element, understand one key behavior that you can immediately apply in your role as sustainable building professional and/or advocate
  3. Gain insight as to how you can use the practice of emergent leadership to improve your organization or firm’s ability to successfully lead sustainable building projects
  4. Understand the relationship between leadership and creating integrated, collaborative design solutions, whether buildings, building policies or community development programs

This session is approved for the following continuing education credits:
  • 4 LFA credits
  • 4 AIA LU credits
