Parabola Architecture
Co-founder
Carrie co-founded Parabola Architecture with Kevin Burke in 2010.

Carrie’s work evolves form from forces, drawing upon her expertise in calibrating light and human perception. She finds inspiration in designing the nuances of sensorial experience, applying technical rigor at a range of scales.

Parabola’s built work includes 1212 Bordeaux for Google, and offices in NYC for First Look Media and San Francisco offices. Carrie was lead designer for Parabola’s live/work “laboratory”, and for an an ecologically aspirational residence in California.
Carrie received a Masters in Architecture from Yale, and Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech and studied at the Architectural Association, London.

Awards with Parabola include ILFI Biophilic Design Award (finalist), Architectural Record “Good Design is Good Business”, and DBIA Western Regional award for 1212 Bordeaux and the Virginia AIA award for design excellence for Timepiece. Carrie’s other design awards include the Yale Feldman Prize for "Design Solutions that Achieve the Practical and Poetic"; the Richard Kelly Grant for Innovative Lighting Design; and a National Science Foundation EFRI-SEED grant for interdisciplinary engineering research. Carrie was the Esherick Visiting Professor at UC Berkeley with Kevin Burke.
